Kazimir Malevich – The Knife Grinder

Kazimir Malevich – The Knife Grinder
This Painting was created by Kazimir Malevich in Russia in 1912. He began painting at an early age and created his style of Cubo-Futurism at a time when the industrial revolution was just starting to sweep over the world. Cubo-Futurism is a combination of the Cubism movement with the Futurists representation of movement.

The Knife Grinder is a fascinating piece which emphasizes the connection between man and machine. It is difficult, without extended viewing, to determine where the man ends and the machine begins.

The original is currently held at the Yale University Art Gallery.
